Three Scooops Clothing Tip #5

What's good y'all?

Welcome back to Three Scooops Clothing Tips! We have been traveling lately doing pop up shops in Atlanta for the Durag fest and Richmond for Southside First Friday's. We have also been fortunate enough to be a guest speaker at our local high school fashion classes. Shoutout to Landstown, Salem, and Green Run fashion programs!

We are excited to get back to blogging after our brief absence. As the weather transitions we have some important tips to help increase the life span of your garments! Do you exercise or have a favorite sporting jersey? For the most part we all do some sort of walking, running, sport, or gyming. High performance gear (athletic wear) is mainly made of microfiber or polyester fabric. These fabrics help wick away sweat by moving sweat to the surface of the garment where it then evaporates. You may ask yourself wtf is high performance gear? Think of brands like Nike that created "dri-fit" or Adidas with "clima-cool". These are examples of your garments that are made from microfiber or polyester fabric. Just like anything of quality, care labels are super important! That's why we want to share how to protect and keep them longer.

High performance gear is not meant for heavy heat or dryers. High temperatures can quickly damage those fabrics. The best options for drying is to air dry or tumble dry on low heat. This will keep the garment looking fresh and performing properly. Side effects from high heat may cause garment distortion, logo damage, and melting. As you move clothes from the washing machine to the dryer, simply remove your athletic wear and let them air dry. After a hour or two they should be perfect. If you want to remove wrinkles, there is nothing wrong with a low tumble dry.

We have added some photos of a couple futbol jerseys we damaged in the dryer smh. You'd think we would have known better. Thats why we wanted to share this blog because athletic wear isn't cheap and it's so simple to keep them looking new!

We hope you've enjoyed our fifth 3SCT! If you have any questions or items you would like to us to review, comment below.
